7 natural ways to soothe your aching throat

I’m a performer. I sing and I act, in front of live audiences or behind the microphone in a recording studio. My voice is directly connected to my income. Which is awesome: I love what I do! But it’s also kind of scary, because it might mean that a simple cold can make me unable to work.

Now I don’t like putting a lot of junk into my body. Don’t like pain killers and coughing syrup and who knows what else you can try. I like to take a more natural approach.

In this article I share my secrets :)

1. Water

Drink water. It’s a simple as that. It helps you get rid of the stuff your body wants to lose (it even helps you shed weight!) and it keeps your vocal folds supple. Also, the water can help you get rid of some mucus and other slimey stuff you don’t want to know that can attach to your folds. Ew. So drink. Even hot water (like tea without the tea) can work wonders, and cold water can help reduce swelling.

2. Honey

To be honest, I don’t like honey. Never have, never will. But it’s very soothing for your throat. Besides it feeling rich and warm, it’s full of antioxidants and in ancient times, honey…
