The tennis ball break
A quick and easy way to revitalize yourself
Do you need to relax more often, but feel like finding the time is an impossible task? I can totally relate! That’s why I developed the tennis ball break — a very quick and efficient way of relaxing, recharging you within a few minutes!
Before I dive in: let’s do a little experiment.
Stand up… put one foot in front of the other, and pretend you have a tennis ball. Now throw that tennis ball onto the floor with as much force as you can, twenty times, and count out loud. Do it with your full attention, your full body and complete enthusiasm.
— Do that now, only read on after you’ve done so —
Did you do it?
Question: While you were throwing and counting, did you feel you needed to breathe in?
If you’re like most people, you never thought: ‘Shoot, I need some air right now’. That’s because you automatically drew breath right after ‘releasing’ your tennis ball and shouting out the number. Breathing is such an automated process, that your breath in will follow your out breath: if you breathe out quickly, you’l breathe in quickly too.
Didn’t feel it? Do the tennis ball exercise with blowing in stead of counting, and notice what…
